What is an online PDF viewer?

An online PDF viewer is a browser-based tool that renders PDF documents directly in your web browser without requiring Adobe Acrobat or any other software to be installed. PDFLE's PDF viewer uses PDF.js — Mozilla's open-source rendering engine — to display PDFs with accurate text, images, and layout. Files are opened locally in your browser and are never uploaded to a server.

How to view a PDF online — step by step

  1. Open a PDF — click "Open File" and select a PDF from your device, or drag and drop the file into the viewer.
  2. Navigate pages — the page count shows at the top. Use the navigation arrows or scroll to move through the document.
  3. Adjust zoom — use the zoom in/out buttons or choose Auto Fit, Fit Width, or Fit Page from the dropdown to control how the page fills the screen.
  4. Rotate if needed — click the rotation buttons to correct page orientation for landscape or incorrectly scanned pages.
  5. Download — click the download button to save the original PDF to your device.

When to use an online PDF viewer

  • Viewing a PDF on a device where Acrobat Reader is not installed
  • Quickly previewing a document before downloading or editing it
  • Reading reports, contracts, or academic papers on any browser or operating system
  • Checking page count and content before merging or splitting a PDF

PDFLE's viewer supports multi-page PDFs of any size. Text within the PDF remains selectable and copyable. The viewer works on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, and all modern browsers.
